Mistah Rapsey is my name..
staying underground
is the experience..

I’ve been traveling since my youth searching for experiences of truth. An old soul back again to discover what I left uncovered. I love to love and live to laugh. Enrolled in a school called Knowledge of Self. Paying attention is my drug. Learning to live Life like music and flow with the rhythm, careful not to miss a beat. A renaissance man, Life is my art project. An habitual nomad, I roam to evolve. Music and cannabis are my constant companions. Interested in people, i’m always searching for my tribe. The beauty of the wilderness is the closest i’ve come to experiencing Truth.

Following up their previous collaboration on the track Road to Zion from Damian Marley’s stellar Welcome to Jamrock album, Nas and Jr. Gong offer a preview into their latest development from the upcoming album Distant Relatives. A release date still hasn’t been announced, but this video gives a much better understanding of its content, inspired by Nas and Damian’s shared African ancestry.

Bob Marley & the Wailers // Sun Is Shining

I have been feeling really down for the past little while, today i went out for a walk along the train tracks to do some thinking.  It is a beautiful today here in Montreal, warm, blue sky and the sun is shining. I came back to my apartment feeling a lot better about life, i put on Bob Marley and continued to feel good.  I am eternally grateful to this man for everything he did while he was alive, i hope i can accomplish even half of what he did in his short life.

I plan on bumping Mr. Marley for the rest of the day..

Israel Vibration- Licks & Kicks

Sorry disabelleonaire, it appears tumblrs are in the mood for the natty reggaeeee tonight mon! I love this track, it has such a dubby jazz influence, this is that classic reggae..

Talk to me about music..

Israel Vibration is a reggae harmony trio, originating from Kingston, Jamaica. Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig, and Cecil “Skeleton” Spence all overcame childhood polio and went on to be one of the most successful roots groups to form in Jamaica in the late 1970s. The trio initially met as children at a rehabilitation center.

Great call on that Alton Elis. My stepdad, Wayne Jarrett, probably knows him, hell, probably worked with him at one point. Woke up to the sounds of this rocksteady this morning and its been just gold coming out of the speakers.

Awesome sound suggestion. (link people to it once you reply. Spread the love. :D )

Yeah his music is amazing, its such a mix of styles, you can really hear the Motown influence.  I also woke up to Alton Ellis the other day, and i agree its is very golden.  I’m gonna check out Wayne Jarret’s music, you should collaborate with him.

Jah!

Augustus Pablo // Baby I Love You So

The album has been released on several different labels, often with slightly different artworks and track lists.

King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown is a dub album by Augustus Pablo and King Tubby, released in 1976. It features Carlton Barrett on drums, Robbie Shakespeare and Aston Barrett on bass guitar, and Earl “Chinna” Smith on guitar. Pablo produced the album and played melodica, piano, organ and clavinet. The album was recorded at Randy’s in Kingston, Jamaica. A distinctly different mix of the title song with vocals and dub, titled, “Baby I Love You So,” can be found on the Jacob Miller and Augustus Pablo 1975 album, Who Say Jah No Dread.

Large Pro on the best places for crate diggin’ in New York.

Definitely Long Island. That’s a gold mine out there. You’ll find crazy stuff. And Brooklyn, my God. Brooklyn, like those reggae shops, some of the basements what they’ve got down there like as far as soul and funk, my God. Queens used to be good, but a few stores shut down, but even now it’s, you know, little places. And now, where I live in Queens, a lot of people have records in their basements. I can post up a sign “If you have any records for sale.” It’s different for me now. I’m getting stuff from all over the place now, because a lot of people say “Aw, you know, we don’t use these anymore,” and they give them, and I got them. So it’s a lot for me now. It’s coming from everywhere.”
