Mistah Rapsey is my name..
staying underground
is the experience..

I’ve been traveling since my youth searching for experiences of truth. An old soul back again to discover what I left uncovered. I love to love and live to laugh. Enrolled in a school called Knowledge of Self. Paying attention is my drug. Learning to live Life like music and flow with the rhythm, careful not to miss a beat. A renaissance man, Life is my art project. An habitual nomad, I roam to evolve. Music and cannabis are my constant companions. Interested in people, i’m always searching for my tribe. The beauty of the wilderness is the closest i’ve come to experiencing Truth.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Saul Williams- Talk to Strangers

Nah, I wasn’t raised at gunpoint
And I’ve read too many books
To distract me from the mirror
When unhappy with my looks
And I ain’t got proper diction
For the makings of a thug
Though I grew up in the ghetto
And my niggas all sold drugs
And though that may validate me
For a spot on MTV
And get me all the airplay
That my bank account would need
I was hoping to invest in
A lesson that I learned
When I thought this fool would jump me
Just because it was my turn

I dreamt of you last night...
We were on a crowed street corner screaming something about love We Held hands but your grip felt tighter.
They Looked at us as though we were crazy, foolish, mad even.
I started to loose hope, thought are message was ill received.
You shouted louder.
They heard.
They all heard and joined in.

Love is the movement.
Namaste.

things cha cha change faster
the suits lose control
reality told by politicians
and preached by pastors

now leads to uneasy laughter
trust breached by sick ambitions
control lost, they lust after

when these moments take hold
lose control and let reality fold
entered the new world from the old
happened Solstice last december

Without the Sun

I feel so heavy
I could sink into a hole
Get comfortable and sleep
In this lull I feel no rhythm
Don’t know the future
Can’t stay driven

Ask for what you need
In time you shall receive
Putting your mind at ease
Should it be that easy?
I know what I’m looking for
Will it find me?

I departed love once
Free lookin’ I lived a lot
But never found a love like that
The freedom I was looking for
Was traveling in your mind
Behind your eyes I found peace

- a poem of mistahRapsey

I wrote this a poem a couple days after Sunseekers music festival.  I feel at peace now but at the time I had a lot swirling around in my consciousness.

On this day
There will be no talk of war
Or politics
Or disaster
Or death
Love is alive today
So we will speak only of love
There will only be love
On tongue
And lip
And in heart
And thought
And it won’t be that Hollywood type of love
Not T.V. love
Not dimestore novel love
And certainly, not mainstream music love
Love
Love
You know, love
Love that has been worked on
Like gardens and term papes
Love that has been nurtured, like children
And well, like children
Love that falls, crashes even, burns
But dusts off, fixes up…and rises
Rises
More brilliant than before
Phoenix love
Yeah, Phoenix love
So, let us speak only of love
Healing love
No herbal or over-the-counter love
Real healing love
Like God love
Like mother’s love
Lover’s love
Like, best friend love
And change the world love
Human love
Humans love
Love soft
Love hard
Bust just love
Enjoy this new garden
Work on it together
And it will be perennial
It will grow… year to year
It will be beautiful
It will win blue ribbons and everything
Folks will come from far and wide just to see it
And wish they had it
Had this kind of garden
This kind..
Love
Love

Yasiin Bey // Salaams (Exclusive Performance)

Mos Def / Yasiin performing his latest piece “Salaams” at the 30 Years of Taqwa event in New York. Now this is a proper response to the recent Lowes controversy.

Goosebumps! Love this brother! As Salaamu Alaiakum. That’s the greeting Muslims give around the world. It means “May the the truest peace be upon you.” If we understand it though, it also means “The Peace is an obligation upon you”. Matter of fact, this greeting and its effect upon the early Hip Hop generation is why in Hip Hop, lot of folks greet and depart with “Peace”. - Brother Ali
