Mistah Rapsey is my name..
staying underground
is the experience..

I’ve been traveling since my youth searching for experiences of truth. An old soul back again to discover what I left uncovered. I love to love and live to laugh. Enrolled in a school called Knowledge of Self. Paying attention is my drug. Learning to live Life like music and flow with the rhythm, careful not to miss a beat. A renaissance man, Life is my art project. An habitual nomad, I roam to evolve. Music and cannabis are my constant companions. Interested in people, i’m always searching for my tribe. The beauty of the wilderness is the closest i’ve come to experiencing Truth.

Jay Electronica Exhibits A & C Live in NYC @ The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn.

I wish i was there!  Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Hi-Tek all in the same building, that means Black Star and Reflection Eternal!  Why don’t i live in New York?!! WHY!!!!

I Was There: K’naan (September 17th, 2009)

K’naan performing a beautiful acappella version of Somalia live in Montreal.

I was there: GZA/Genius (January 27th, 2010)

GZA was performing 4th Chamber when a fight broke out right next to me, he cut the music and went into Guillotine (Swords).  It was an incredible show, i wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

Wu-Tang Clan Live 1996 Rare Footage

I am so sad that i never got to see the Wu-Tang Clan perform live in a New York club in the nineties.  ODB was one of the greatest performers that i never got to see, the Wu live without him feels completely different, he was such a huge presence in the group.

Neil Young- Old Man (Live at Farm Aid)

This is dedicated to my old man, the man who introduced me to Neil Young’s music.

“Old man look at my life,
I’m a lot like you were.

The Roots- Don’t Say Nothin’ (Live in Central Park)

This is so nice to listen to,  The Roots are the best live band in the world in my opinion.  I enjoy listening to the intro and all the musical breaks in this live recording. It makes me miss summer music festivals so much.

The Roots - Black Thought vs. Skillz (Live)

That’s right they’re spitting Biggie Small verse’s.  Black Thought is my favorite emcee, I need to see this man live, again.  I would also love to see The Roots play with the whole crew, Skillz, Rahzel and The Hub.

Peter Tosh //  Rastafari Is (Live)

I would give my left nut to have seen this show..

Both the guitar and drum solo’s are incredible.  I was jamming with my friend to this song, he was on a drum kit and I was playing the djembe’s but after seeing how incredible Peter Tosh’s djembe drum solo was it made me give up drumming on the spot!

Price to book ratio
Underground rap vet Sean Price sets his own market worth
Brownsville, Brooklyn MC Sean Price’s formula for endurance in the rap game is simple, but takes time to perfect.
“I don’t give a fuck no more,” Price says without pause. “And I don’t mean it to just brush off the answer. Just really, I don’t care anymore. When you’ve been through as much shit as I’ve been through in my career and a lot of shit don’t work, you just don’t give a fuck no more what anybody says or what anybody thinks. And now that I’m at that stage, people are startin’ to care and shit.”
Not that they didn’t already care when he was known as Ruckus, one half of ’90s NYC underground upstarts Heltah Skeltah. “There’s still some people that don’t know that Ruckus and Sean Price is the same person—and I don’t give a fuck! Fuck ’em,” he exclaims, enjoying a genuine bellylaugh.
“Years ago, if I’d have had to do an interview, I’d have been like, ‘Great, let’s do it,’” explains Price, tempered by hindsight rather than ego. “Now when I do an interview, it’s like, don’t be askin’ no stupid shit ’cause I’m hangin’ up. ’Cause I don’t care. The worst thing you could say about me is ‘Sean is an asshole!’ I’ve been called an asshole ’bout a million times, so I don’t really care.”
So what does Price care about? “I’m a father all over again,” he says proudly. “I got a five-month-old daughter. I named her Shaun Price. So I been enjoying fatherhood all over again. I stay home a lot now too, ’cause you can’t rewind that childhood. I just try to absorb every moment.”
He is guardedly enthused about upcoming projects, which include Random Axe, a full-length collaboration with Guilty Simpson and Black Milk, and a third solo LP, Mic Tyson, due in 2011. The end, Price says, is in sight.
“I’m gonna finish my project with Ill Bill, and that’s probably it after that. I’m fuckin’ done,” the rapper declares without hesitation. “I won’t be checkin’ for them checkin’ my shit out, because I won’t be doin’ it anymore!”

I am so excited for this show tomorrow, especially now that I know that Sean Price is planning on retiring from the rap game.

Atmosphere- The River (Live)

“It was a purple purple sky and an orange orange moon,
And everyone was whistlin’ the same damn tune,
Except Brian, Brian stared out across the field,
And watched the horizon blossom to cop a feel,
Over the edge of the world the one they’re all afraid to walk,
Ration out for why their so high on the small talk,
But Brian knows where the crows all go,
To find the if’s and the and’s and the but’s and all so’s..”

-Slug

I have called many different Atmosphere songs my favorite, I guess they change as I mature, but this one really is my favorite.  Slug’s lyrics come so alive in this song, I feel as if I am write there in his head as he is thinking. Ant’s production is as golden as ever on this track.

Every verse of this song is amazing, click the link below to study it in it’s entirety.  Here are and few bars that always jump out at me.

“And I wish your name was on the guest list at my shows,
I gotta believe that you can see me when I find my freedom,
Cause you got to meet the sun before you got to meet my son..”
