Mistah Rapsey is my name..
staying underground
is the experience..

I’ve been traveling since my youth searching for experiences of truth. An old soul back again to discover what I left uncovered. I love to love and live to laugh. Enrolled in a school called Knowledge of Self. Paying attention is my drug. Learning to live Life like music and flow with the rhythm, careful not to miss a beat. A renaissance man, Life is my art project. An habitual nomad, I roam to evolve. Music and cannabis are my constant companions. Interested in people, i’m always searching for my tribe. The beauty of the wilderness is the closest i’ve come to experiencing Truth.

February: J Dilla Month (Reblog)

If you didn’t know, J.Dilla is regarded as one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time. Born on February 7th, 1974, Jay Dee amazed us with his out-of-this-world beats and production. In addition to being a part of Slum Village, Jay played a key role in critically acclaimed albums by artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Common to name a few. Black Milk is also highly influenced by J.Dilla’s legacy. On February 10th, 2006, at the age of 32, James Yancey passed away from a blood disease. Since then, J.Dilla’s life has been widely celebrated and commemorated by the hip hop community. This month, events all around the world are taking place in memory as February is named J.Dilla month. Celebrate Jay Dee’s life this month (or every other month) by playing a track a day or bumping Donuts all day long!

No I.D.- State to State ft Dug Infinite & Common

I know that you know No I.D. for producing Common’s classic ode to hip hop, “I Used To Love Her” or Jay-Z’s auto tune bashing “D.O.A.”, now I want you to know this dope song from his solo album “Accept Your Own & Be Yourself (The Black Album)” featuring the one and only Common..

“Chi-Town, where we don’t fight over coasts
Cause the one that’s in the middle is the one that see the most..”

-Dug Infinite

“Hood stories, and songs to homies in penetentiaries
Chances I take over breaks, to make shit interesting
My city’ll hold it down like bends in intersections
Wanted to say Fuck the Police, I ain’t had no protection..”

Common // Lovin’ I Lost

I gotta give mad love to No I.D for sampling “The Impressions - I Loved and I Lost”.  From his references I am assuming this song is about Commons relationship with Serena Williams.  Dope song, definitely going into heavy rotation.

“Hard for me to stay away and stay in touch
Girl, my heart is broke and I need a crutch
Thought I was okay but nights that I stayed up
Ass got me layed up, girl I never gave up
On you and us, I tried to take it day by day, and whew its tough
I know your young and you gotta live your life ma
I thought it was the right time for me to wife ya..”

- Common

Brother Ali // Sweet (Potato Pie)

Squash the beef, increase the piece. Brother Ali offers his own recipe for Common’s Sweet (Potato Pie). Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color is coming soon, in the mean time get this free download: http://bit.ly/zm5kE6

Brother Ali wrote in the video description, “Its well known that I’m top 5 dead or alive in the kitchen” and tagged the video #G.O.A.T. of the pies! Funny dude.. but seriously Brother Ali really might be top 5 dead or alive.

Raphael Saadiq // They Don’t Know ft. Ledisi & Common (prod. Steve Spacek)

Back in 2004 Raphael Saadiq opened his studio doors to Spacek to produce an album for one of his sub-labels. The album was suppose to be called Pookie Blue Room and features 10 songs produced by both Steve and Morgan with Raphael singing on all of them and featuring guest appearances by Common , Q-Tip , Ledisi, Steve Spacek and Sir Bentley (you know it was 2004 when you see Sir Bentley’s name, ahaha)…anyhow the album was never completed and therefor never released.

How can music this good go unreleased?
