Mistah Rapsey is my name..
staying underground
is the experience..

I’ve been traveling since my youth searching for experiences of truth. An old soul back again to discover what I left uncovered. I love to love and live to laugh. Enrolled in a school called Knowledge of Self. Paying attention is my drug. Learning to live Life like music and flow with the rhythm, careful not to miss a beat. A renaissance man, Life is my art project. An habitual nomad, I roam to evolve. Music and cannabis are my constant companions. Interested in people, i’m always searching for my tribe. The beauty of the wilderness is the closest i’ve come to experiencing Truth.

If you had the chance to inform someone who had no idea what the Occupy Movement is what would you say to them?
Asked by naturerock

My answer is always a little different each time I answer this question depending on who I am talking to and what I gauge their level of awareness to be. But usually when I am asked what the Occupy Movement is about, I start by asking a few questions like..

What do you see as the biggest problems facing the world today?

What led to these problems being created?

What do you imagine our world will look like in the future if we don’t address those problems now?

It is important to ask questions, and in a way this is a lot of what this movement is about. There are many huge problems that we face that until now most people have been ignoring, hoping that someone else would take care of them and that they could continue living life as if nothing was wrong. But it has become apparent that the people that we put our trust in to take care of us and our planet are not doing so and that if we don’t take matter into our own hands our future will be one not worth living. I see this movement as the beginning of a global awakening, a tipping point if you will. It has becoming apparent that something has gone terribly wrong and what we are being told is reality is in fact far from the truth that we are experiencing. To figure out what has gone wrong we have to start asking questions, because before we can create meaningful change it is important to understand what went wrong.

I personally think that there are two major problems we are facing which can be broken down to what we are doing to our planet and what we are doing on our planet.

We are currently destroying our planet at increasingly rapid and ignorant rate. If we destroy our planet, we destroy ourselves, it is a very simple fact that for some reason we are having trouble understanding. Just last year we had the largest oil spill and the largest nuclear meltdown in our history and we seem to be moving on like nothing has happened. But this is something we can’t move on from without changing the way we live on the planet. We have poisoned our water, the very life blood of our planet, we have polluted our atmosphere, the very air we need for survival. We have destroyed 90% of the fish stock of the ocean and cut down over 50% of the planets trees that we depend on for regulating the health of our planet. This is incredibly stupid of us, don’t you think? This alone should be enough of a wake up call for a global awakening, unfortunately people have known these facts for a long time but apparently it wasn’t enough of a slap in the face to cause any of the needed action.

It seems the thing that pushed people to the tipping point resulting in the Occupy Movement was the crumbling of the global economy. We have been sold the lie that there is nothing more to life than working and consuming and suddenly when people couldn’t find work and therefore couldn’t consume anymore people started seeing through the lie causing people to finally get angry enough to stand up and ask questions!

I think the Occupy Movement has already accomplished its most important goal, which is of course the starting of a global discussion on what we are going to do about the situation we find ourselves in. What we saw this year is nothing compared to what we are about to experience in 2012. There is going to be a massive change occurring in Europe as the European Union crumbles and in America which is arguably where the heart of the major problems lie there will be a revolution to gain back control of the country that has been bought out by a few corporations. People have been pushed too far and we have had enough. Hear me now quote me later, 2012 will be the year of the global uprising.

Brother Ali // Writer’s Block (prod. Jake One)

This brother is the truth. I think Mourning In America and Dreaming In Color just became my most anticipated album of 2012.

I wanna write a rhyme that’s in your head all day
Songs that make you say you never felt that way

Look I’m trying to give myself goosebumps okay?
Find the truth inside me and put it on display
Any dedicated folks, listen to me close
I open my inner soul and slip it in my quotes

Georgia Anne Muldrow // Seeds (prod. Madlib)

No sooner do we announce a new collabo album from the queen of fOnk Georgia Anne Muldrow and enigmatic producer extraordinaire Madlib, do we get hit with the first leak (and it does not disappoint). Listen to the LP’s title track “Seeds” (which you can cop as a single on Feb 14th). This album does not only mark the first album GAM has done as a vocalist exclusively over another producer’s work, but also the first full length album Madlib has done with a female vocalist. Says Georgia:  “Not handling production and focusing strictly on the lyrics and vocals was a very different experience for me.  It was as if I walked into someone else’s world and built a hut.  But I’m very proud of the hut we built and am excited about the release.”

Seeds the LP will be out March 27th via SomeOthaShip Connect.

Another album i can hardly wait to hear, 2012 is gonna be an incredibly dope year sonically speaking it seems.

Brother Ali // Sweet (Potato Pie)

Squash the beef, increase the piece. Brother Ali offers his own recipe for Common’s Sweet (Potato Pie). Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color is coming soon, in the mean time get this free download: http://bit.ly/zm5kE6

Brother Ali wrote in the video description, “Its well known that I’m top 5 dead or alive in the kitchen” and tagged the video #G.O.A.T. of the pies! Funny dude.. but seriously Brother Ali really might be top 5 dead or alive.
